Fevers are more common during the winter months and there are certainly some viruses going around. We are often asked for guidance to lower a child’s fever. While each body is different, there are some common guidelines. Please note that 100.4 or greater is considered to be a fever. Any child under three months should be seen by a doctor if a fever is present.

  1. Don’t ever give your child aspirin. Instead, use acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

  2. Always ask your doctor before using cold or flu remedies.

  3. Be certain you’re not accidentally double-dosing…many combination remedies include acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

  4. It’s also very important to keep your child hydrated. (Ice chips are a good back-up when an upset tummy’s involved.)

  5. Above all, know that we’re here to help.
