Dr. Mertz earned a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency training at the University of New Mexico. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and her medical areas of interest include routine and high-risk pregnancy, family planning, general gynecology and infertility.

Dr. Mertz's personal interests include biking, running, gardening and the outdoors. She enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter as well as Latin dancing.
