New Oregon Law: Medical Chaperones

As of July 1, the Oregon Medical Board requires that you are offered a “medical chaperone” before any genital, rectal or breast examination. You can accept or refuse the chaperone. The new law requires that the chaperone must be a certified medical assistant, patient care clerk, or other designated unlicensed staff who has completed a training course. The chaperone we offer to you must be someone who is not your friend or relative. However, you can have a friend or relative with you if you are the one to request their presence.

This information applies for all medical providers and is not specific to Oregon Medical Group. To learn more about this new law visit www.oregon.gov/omb/Topics-of-Interest/Pages/Chaperone.aspx. Again, nothing has changed at Oregon Medical Group, but we want you to know we comply with this important requirement.
